5th Annual QA Clinic / Market Wether Sale

Article Posted On: Sunday 28 February 2010 at 8:23 pm

As previously announced on our News page, the Champaign County Goat Council is once again bringing the community a great opportunity for our junior fair members to visit our annual Goat Clinic and Market Wether Sale, happening on Saturday April 3, 2010 at the Champaign County Fairgrounds.  This event will be set up in the show arena.  The clinic will begin at 10am, followed by the sale around 12:30pm.

This year the event will be run a bit differently.  The clinic will be a Quality Assurance qualifying event, however due to rule changes on the state level, our schedule will go as follows:  At 10am, the clinic will begin with a series of rotating stations, as we have done in the past, until approximately 11:15am, with some stations offering hands on opportunities, such as showmanship.  Other stations will include information on fitting and trimming a goat for show.  A group learning talk will follow from 11:15am to 12:00pm and will cover items such as veterinarian information, feed selection, and general QA knowledge the junior fair members need.   To earn their QA status, junior fair members must attend both hours of the event, as the hands on station is mandatory, along with the group lesson.  Make plans to stick around for our quality wether sale, as we have had turnout in champions from this sale in our past years, and we hope this year will be no different!  See our pictures page for champions that came out of our 2009 sale.
