As previously announced on our News page, the Champaign County Goat Council is once again bringing the community a great opportunity for our junior fair members to visit our annual Goat Clinic and Market Wether Sale, happening on Saturday April 3, 2010 at the Champaign County Fairgrounds. This event will be set up in the show arena. The clinic will begin at 10am, followed by the sale around 12:30pm.

This year the event will be run a bit differently. The clinic will be a Quality Assurance qualifying event, however due to rule changes on the state level, our schedule will go as follows: At 10am, the clinic will begin with a series of rotating stations, as we have done in the past, until approximately 11:15am, with some stations offering hands on opportunities, such as showmanship. Other stations will include information on fitting and trimming a goat for show. A group learning talk will follow from 11:15am to 12:00pm and will cover items such as veterinarian information, feed selection, and general QA knowledge the junior fair members need. To earn their QA status, junior fair members must attend both hours of the event, as the hands on station is mandatory, along with the group lesson. Make plans to stick around for our quality wether sale, as we have had turnout in champions from this sale in our past years, and we hope this year will be no different! See our pictures page for champions that came out of our 2009 sale.

To access a copy of the flyer for your club or youth member, click here to view, print, and save a copy of the flyer.

If you are interested in consigning for this event, please contact Eric Price or David Hollingsworth, their contact details are included on the flyer.

Thanks for your interest, and we look forward to seeing everyone at this fun event!

Dates Set for 2010 ABGA Champaign County Shows

Great news...the dates have been set for the ABGA shows coming to Champaign County! The Champaign County Goat Council is excited to offer two shows again this year.

The annual Champaign Classic ABGA show date has been set for June 26, 2010. This show will be part of the Midwest Wether Goat Series, so we anticipate a great crop of wethers at this event, and we hope to see many local junior fair members participate! UPDATE!! The judge for this show has been confirmed...Anton Ward will be our judge for this show date.

The 2nd annual Champaign Harvest Classic ABGA show date has been set for October 2, 2010.

Both shows will be located at our Champaign County Fairgrounds, located off US Route 68 in Urbana, Ohio.

Stay tuned to our Events page for more details as we know them. When the October judge (see June confirmation above!) is confirmed, we will be sure to post that information here on our News page. Details on each show will be posted over on our Events page as we get the details ready...including flyers, showbills, and entry forms.

These shows are an important way to help the council raise funds to support our junior fair youth. Monies are used to arrange for the purchase of pens in the barns, awards at the shows, and sponsorship of youth related projects, so any and all support for these shows is truly appreciated by the councils - and the youth! If you are interested in helping out at either of these shows, we can guarantee a good time of fun and fellowship with fellow Boer Goat owners and show people, so let the council know if you want to be in on this. Thanks!
