The Champaign County Goat Council is proud to present our 2nd annual Champaign Harvest Classic 2010 ABGA show, set for October 2, 2010.  As with our other events, this show will be held at the Champaign County Fairgrounds, on US Route 68 in Urbana, Ohio.  Our judge for this show will be Joe Teel, and we welcome his attendance at our event.

The show will include a jackpot wether show beginning at 9am, following this will be our Junior ABGA (JABGA) production doe classes, and finally our ABGA production doe and buck classes.  All goats must be on location by 8am the morning of the show.  The wether weigh-ins will be held from 7am to 8:30am, with the scales closing promptly, so don't be late!

For a complete listing of show rules, information, and the class rosters and entry forms, click here to obtain all information.  All classes will follow in order listed, by the 3 divisions as mentioned.

Of course, help from our local council members and those wanting to hang out with a bunch of goat people will be appreciated, so contact the council if you are interested.  As always, we appreciate everyone's interest and participation in our show and we look forward to seeing a great turnout with many spectacular goats!  Thanks....see you at the show!!!

Don't Forget Your Thank Yous!

Article Posted On: Monday 16 August 2010 at 7:44 pm

We certainly hope everyone had an enjoyable time at the fair this year.  It sure was hot and sweaty outside, but all of the junior fair members, junior goat council members, and junior fair board members did a great job in helping out.  Congratulations to all junior fair participants...you all are winners regardless of the placing you may have received!  Now that fair is over and the market sale has been completed...there are two important pieces of information left to be completed.  First...if you have not already done so, feed records must be turned in to the extension office by August 31, so make sure you know how your club is handling that.  Also and very important...remember to take a few moments to thank your buyers!  Hopefully you know who purchased your market project, if not look on your check or call the sales office for the details.  Take time to write out a personal thank you to your buyer(s), and perhaps even include a picture as many will hang in their place of business.  Don't forget to do the same on any trophy sponsors, prize sponsors (such as skillathon), and other awards you may have received.  We want to support our buyers and sponsors and show our appreciation, so they can continue to proudly support our junior fair!  And next year...hang a thank you sign on your pen to your buyers to offer a final thanks and show others that you appreciate their support!  Thanks to everyone for a successful junior fair in 2010....and now it is time to start working on next year!

Dates Set for 2010 ABGA Champaign County Shows

Article Posted On: Tuesday 12 January 2010 at 4:10 pm

Great news...the dates have been set for the ABGA shows coming to Champaign County!  The Champaign County Goat Council is excited to offer two shows again this year.

The 2nd annual Champaign Harvest Classic ABGA show date has been set for October 2, 2010.

The show will be located at our Champaign County Fairgrounds, located off US Route 68 in Urbana, Ohio.

UPDATE!!  The judge for our Harvest Classic show will be Joe Teel.  Also, please visit the Events page to find more details, including the showbill for this event, hot off the press!

June 26, 2010 was the date for our annual Champaign Classic ABGA show, including a jackpot wether show as part of the Midwest Wether Goat Series.  This show was a success with a great turnout of exhibitors both young and old, and both goat and human!  Everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves and we greatly appreciate the attendance and continued support of this event.  Anton Ward did a great job as judge and we certainly appreciate his efforts.

These shows are an important way to help the council raise funds to support our junior fair youth.  Monies are used to arrange for the purchase of pens in the barns, awards at the shows, and sponsorship of youth related projects, so any and all support for these shows is truly appreciated by the councils - and the youth!  If you are interested in helping out at any of our show events, we can guarantee a good time of fun and fellowship with fellow Boer Goat owners and show people, so let the council know if you want to be in on this.  Thanks!

Sponsor a Goat Pen

Article Posted On: Tuesday 29 April 2008 at 7:56 pm

Here is your opportunity to help support our 4H & FFA youth who take goat projects, market or dairy, to the Champaign County Fair.  Many new goat pens were purchased last year, and the goat council is partnering with the fair board to get the pens paid for.  You can help support the youth and the fair by sponsoring a pen.  There are different levels of financial support offered to give sponsors a choice, and regardless - all support is greatly appreciated!  Click here to access a sponsor form.  Print it out and mail it along with your donation to the address shown on the form.  The goat council will collect the donations for payment to the fair board.  On behalf of our youth, we would like to thank everyone for their support of the council and fair.  We have one of the best fairs around, and your support will help us to continue with that tradition.  Thank You!
