Another Great Year for Market Goats!

At the market goat tag-in on Wednesday, May 4, approximately 125 head of market goats were tagged in for the 2011 junior fair. Our numbers are down a bit from last year, but still another great year and a great grouping of market goats! We hope everyone has a wonderful summer raising their fair projects, and if you are looking for opportunities to practice with your goats, be sure to check out information on our June ABGA show (details on our Events page), as a jackpot wether class is being offered for local youth! There are also other local shows that will be happening throughout the summer, all part of the Midwest Wether Goat Series, so consider taking your project out to several shows to win points and prizes at the end of the season! With kidding time comes potential problems from the does having toxemia problems as they prepare to kid. Here is your opportunity to help support our 4H & FFA youth who take goat projects, market or dairy, to the Champaign County Fair. Many new goat pens were purchased last year, and the goat council is partnering with the fair board to get the pens paid for. You can help support the youth and the fair by sponsoring a pen. There are different levels of financial support offered to give sponsors a choice, and regardless - all support is greatly appreciated! Click here to access a sponsor form.
